Senior Tax Manager (Partner Track)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join a highly respected public accounting firm in mid-Maryland. This is a partner-track opportunity for a motivated individual ready to lead, mentor, and grow within a firm known for its strong client relationships, community involvement, and excellent employee retention. The Senior Tax Manager will oversee tax engagements, manage client relationships, mentor staff, and help drive business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multiple tax and compliance engagements across a diverse client base.
Maintain regular client communication, building deep understanding of client businesses.
Plan, schedule, and staff engagements in line with firm policies and procedures.
Review and ensure accuracy of tax returns, planning projections, and compliance deliverables.
Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff, reviewing work papers and performance.
Stay current on industry trends, tax legislation, and general economic conditions.
Assist in marketing and business development efforts to support firm growth.
Participate in recruiting efforts and professional development programs.
Manage workflow to adhere to engagement time budgets and firm standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
CPA license in good standing (or working toward CPA licensure).
Minimum of 7+ years of public accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex tax engagements simultaneously.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development efforts.
Proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft 365).
