Position Overview
The Safety Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety management systems to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This role involves developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems and policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Lead training sessions on safety practices and procedures for employees.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies for minimizing risks and enhancing workplace safety.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and present safety reports and metrics to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in safety management, preferably in industries such as utilities, gas/oil or mining.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA (1910, 1926 etc) regulations and safety standards.
- Familiarity with safety assessments and risk management practices.
- Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar are preferred.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of SCL and SIF
