Procurement Leader

LOCATION - Western TN ( approx 2hr West of Nashville, 45-60 mins East of Memphis) - Relocation assistance is available, DOE.
We have a key Leadership role on our Supply Chain team based in TN, in a Supervisor role where you will mentor, and train the plant's purchasing team, work to Implement top-tier sourcing practices, all in support centralized procurement policies and while directly, and from a HANDS ON role, direct the procurement of designated materials, services, and supplies.
This role will be ONSITE in an industrial setting, and will not only be the direct supervisor for 3-4 direct reports, but will also be a Hands-on purchasing/procurement team member, daily.
The role 'may' involve some occasional travel, but not regularly, and not for long stints...Likely less than 10% for sure.
Direct experience with ERP tools is a MUST, with a priority given to those with SAP experience, MS Dynamics AX/MS Dynamics 365.
This role will directly oversee the local plant in Brownsville, TN, but also two other sites ( Michigan and near Toronto, Canada)
Experience with annual spend numbers in the $100-200M would be an applicable scope/scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Training: Provide guidance and training to the plant's procurement team, both directly and indirectly.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, including procurement procedures, Sox controls, and DOA.
- Supplier Management: Oversee supplier quoting, negotiations, sourcing, and contracts in line with corporate strategies.
- Bid Analysis: Analyze bid results and recommend supply chain plans that maximize value for the company.
- Master Agreements: Develop and execute master agreements in SAP, monitoring purchases against budget.
- Process Improvement: Understand and improve existing purchasing activities, procedures, and processes.
- KPI Management: Track and drive improvements in personal and team objectives using key performance indicators.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate annual contracts and conduct routine bid processes for plant supplies and services.
- Supplier Communication: Communicate with suppliers to identify new products and services that reduce costs.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and manage a preferred supply base, using scorecards and reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Efficiency Improvement: Enhance supply chain efficiency by implementing best practices and automating repeatable spend.
- Additional Duties: Perform any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8+ years in Procurement, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
- ERP Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ERP systems, with SAP preferred. Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, effective presentation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Strong analytical skills and SAP experience are highly desirable.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of plant purchasing, warehouse operations, and contract negotiations/management.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence all levels of employees and management, both internally and externally.
- Decision-Making: Ability to make data-based decisions that align with company strategies and consider impacts on other parts of the organization.
