1. SpaceX Gets Closer To Successfully Landing The World’s First Reusable Rocket [Tech Crunch]
SpaceX made its second attempt to land the Falcon-9 rocket on a narrow barge in the middle of the ocean. The rocket, coming back from boosting a cargo load to the international space station, nearly landed intact, but crashed after it dropped altitude too quickly. SpaceX already has plans for a third try later this year.
2. Apple Watch Sells Close To One Million Units In Its First Day [Mashable]
It’s official. Apple’s new watch is the most successful Apple product to ever launch. With almost one million units sold the first day, the watch quickly sold out. The new watch comes in two sizes, 38 mm and 42 mm. Over 70 percent of watches sold were the larger of the two. Apple is already implementing plans to ramp up production in order to meet the growing demand.
3. Esty has a Phenomenal Opening Day On The Stock Market [Venture Beat]
Esty’s IPO was big news this week after its stock opened Thursday trading at 31.86 a share, twice as much as its opening price of 16 dollars a share. Etsy’s IPO has been the largest for a New York based company since the nineties. It is currently been evaluated for more than 3.5 billion dollars.
4. Microsoft and Yahoo Make Renew Their Search Partnership [USA Today]
Microsoft and Yahoo will extend a deal that was made between the two companies back in 2009 that allows Microsoft to help Yahoo power their online search engine. The deal extends for another ten years.
5. EU Accused Google of Foul Play [Huffington Post]
Google drew some negative heat this week after the European Union accused the tech company of “cheating consumers and competitors” by manipulating search results within Googles search engine that favored its own shopping services.
