1. LinkedIn is building out two new products to help coworkers connect [Mashable]

LinkedIn's trying to be the place for job seekers to not only connect with outside of their company but now their existing coworkers as well. There will be two products, according to Mashable.

One that focuses on organizing contact info and the other on content.

Facebook is joining the bandwagon of connecting professionals on its social platform as well. This time, it's a separate entity called Facebook at Work, but looks very much like the existing social network. Who will win the enterprise social network war? Time will tell.

3. In Google's Inner Circle, a Falling Number of Women [New York Times]

Google's aiming to use its renowned algorithm to solve the problem of a lack of women in Silicon Valley.

“There was a point at Google when the cadre of women leadership was pretty strong,” said a former Google executive who would speak only anonymously to preserve business relationships. “That has changed.”

This is a very interesting read in how Google has lost its most prominent women and how it plans to regain the balance.

5. Facebook Offers Artificial Intelligence Tech to Open Source Group [NYT Bits Blog]

"The company said Friday that it was donating for public use several powerful tools for computers, including the means to go through huge amounts of data, looking for common elements of information. The products, used in a so-called neural network of machines, can speed pattern recognition by up to 23.5 times, Facebook said."

It'll be interesting to see what others do with these tools.

"Besides the tools for training neural nets faster, Facebook’s donations include a new means of training multiple computer processors at the same time, a means of cataloging words when analyzing language and tools for better speech recognition software."
