It’s about time! Apple will release the newest generation of the iPhone on September 10, according to All Things D. Of course, this release date is just speculation because the sources are anonymous.
Still, we’re anxiously waiting to see what cool, new features Apple has in store for us!
The following are the new technologies and changes we might expect, as detailed in All Things D:
1. Better Camera and Processer
If you’re still carrying the iPhone 4S, you’ll definitely want to make an upgrade for the boost in camera quality.
Apple made a pretty noticeable difference in quality from the iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5. The next version should be even better!
2. Probably a Fingerprint Sensor
Since Apple acquired AuthenTec, a fingerprint security company, in 2012, a fingerprint sensor feature seems like natural progression for the iPhone. Apple paid $356 million in the acquisition, according to AuthenTec press release.
You can check out Apple’s sensor patent at the US Patent & Trade Office website. The patent is for “Finger sensor having pixel sensing circuitry for coupling electrodes and pixel sensing traces and related methods.”
3. A Brand New Look and Feel via iOS 7
The new operating system will include a totally different look of the iPhone, e.g. new icons and menus. It’ll also include multitasking, AirDrop capabilities and seamless synchronization with certain cars.
A huge bonus for developers: the new iOS 7 will allow developers more options.
“For developers, Apple added a bunch of new “hooks” into the operating system, including the ability to have content download in the background, the ability to include directions from Apple Maps into other apps, and improved video capture abilities,” according to All Things D.

Note: In addition to the newest version of the iPhone, there have been reports about Apple releasing a low-cost version of the iPhone.
